Win one for the little guy…

If you’re ever in New
Mexico looking at the stars, rest assure that there
are still nine planets above you. Never mind the fact that the rest of the
world says there only eight planets – you’re in New Mexico, the rules are different here. =)

Last week on Thursday, March 8, 2007, the New Mexico
Legislature voted that “as Pluto
passes overhead through New Mexico’s excellent night skies, it be declared a
planet and that March 13, 2007 be declared "Pluto Planet Day" at the
legislature.” (full report here)

I wonder how their science classes are going to go…..

Teacher: “Now kids, there are nine planets in the solar system
(except when you go to Arizona,
they only have eight planets). Yes, Billy?”

Billy: “What happened to the ninth planet? Did some big bubbly red
and purple girls blow it up?”
